Siskiyou Project "Adopt a Botanical Area" program is a community watchdog program that encourages local citizens adopt specific Botanical Areas, trails or streams and check regularly to report on ORV use, potential violations, new impacts and/or the results of previous impacts upon the areas being monitored.

As a part of this program, volunteers will be asked to visit their adopted Botanical Area at least four times a year; record observations of rare plants, unusual animals, any resource damage from ORV's and report this information to Siskiyou Project and the US Forest Service. If you'd also like to take photos of your visits and/or lead a hike to your Botanical Area, we'd be delighted!

Siskiyou Project will provide volunteers with a map and description of their Botanical Area, as well as a plant list for the area (if available). We'll also provide observation forms and technical assistance - from filling out forms to help in ideitifying plants.

This is a great opportunity to get more familiar with some of the Siskiyou National Forest's spectacular botanical diversity - and help Siskiyou Project with ongoing monitoring of the area. For more information, contact Rich Nawa at (541) 476-6648, or email him at rich@siskiyou.org.
