DID YOU KNOW:
The
average American uses about 40 pounds of toxic cleaning products every
year.
Household cleaning products contain many known dangerous
substances, and the cleaning products do not disappear after you use
them. Instead, chemical residues linger on your dishes, floors,
windows, appliances, bathtubs, even in your household dust. And what
does not linger often goes down the drain and ends up in our fish and
wildlife.
You
can green your home by switching to green cleaning, and homemade green
cleaners are good for your wallet, too. For example, here is an
inexpensive recipe for an excellent household disinfectant:
Dual Spray Disinfecting System
1. Spray area with white distilled vinegar.
2. Follow with a 3 percent hydrogen peroxide spray.
3. Wipe clean.
Tip: The regular hydrogen peroxide which you can purchase in the grocery store is the 3 percent solution. Never put hydrogen peroxide in a clear bottle or pre-mix it with the vinegar, as the hydrogen peroxide will break down into water.
