What does a $100 contribution do for this organization?
$100 enables us to engage 5 people in our discussion courses. That's 5 people who will go on to create change in their communities, inspire others in their networks and ultimately work toward a more sustainable future for us all.
Why does this donor support this organization?
"Personally, being involved with NWEI has changed my life. The courses fueled my passion for the planet, overriding my reticence to act. As a result I have been able to encourage others to do the same and we now have a city working on a community sustainability initiative at the request of the mayor and city council." -- Maureen Beezhold, Corvallis, Oregon
How do volunteers make a difference for this organization?
Volunteers are the foundation of the Northwest Earth Institute. Volunteers help organize hundreds of discussion groups each year, make introductory presentations to groups, and act as group mentors, to get them off to a great start. Volunteers also help spread the word about NWEI's sustainability discussion courses, assist with various projects in our office, event planning, and training of new volunteers. NWEI would not be able to reach the number of people we do each year without the invaluable support of our volunteers!
Since 1993, NWEI has been leading the curious and the motivated to take responsibility for Earth. Our proven process of connection, reflection and action changes you for good. Through discussion courses and the annual EcoChallenge, we help you engage your community in meaningful conversations that lead to “Aha!” moments about the way you live, work, create and consume. The result is a life that is simpler, richer, and better--for you and for Earth.
NWEI offers ten discussion course programs, designed specifically for small groups to engage in learning about and acting on the important sustainability issues of our day. NWEI's current discussion course offerings include Hungry for Change, Menu for the Future, Voluntary Simplicity, A World of Health, Sustainable Systems at Work, and more.
