There's something for everyone with a wide variety of activities appropriate for individuals, families, and groups.

Ongoing Volunteer Opportunities

For those looking for more in-depth or longer-term engagement with our conservation groups, here are some opportunities to explore. Regular volunteers can have a huge impact and help these groups further their mission.

1000 Friends of OregonHelp with events and outreach, office work, data entry, membership & development, communications, research, graphic design, and more. They also have a Cooperating Attorney Program that matches meritorious land use cases with attorneys willing to do up to one pro bono case per year.
Audubon Society of PortlandOpportunities for youth and adults helping with education, sanctuary work parties, conservation efforts, tabling, gardening, Wildlife Care Center, Nature Store, and more.
Beyond ToxicsHelp with specific campaigns, staffing events, office organizing, research for web site updates, gardening/landscaping around our office building, and much more.
Friends of the Columbia GorgeHelp with office/computer support, outdoor programs, advocacy, public outreach, or fundraising.
Friends of Outdoor SchoolBecome a special needs one-on-one volunteer, a junior counselor, a classroom guest speaker, or a staff trainer.
Friends of Straub Environmental CenterYouth service learning program opportunity helping with habitat restoration, park maintenance and other conservation work around the Salem area within a 4-6 week school-credit program.
Friends of TreesIn addition to helping at tree planting/care events, volunteers are needed for a variety of roles such as Truck Driver, Crew Leader, Tree Caller, Summer Tree Inspector, Friday event prep, and Neighborhood Coordinator (training provided).
Greenbelt Land TrustBe a Volunteer Naturalist or help with stewardship & restoration, outreach & education, GIS support, or special projects.
Greater Hells Canyon CouncilHelp with events, ground trothing a logging project site, reporting damages to our public lands, changing batteries in a wildlife camera, or offering your own special services to meet an important need.
Institute for Applied EcologyOpportunities include rare plant monitoring, seed collecting and cleaning, planting events, native plant propagation, data entry, chaperoning field trips, and more.
KS WildBe a Public Ambassador, Office Champion, or Public Lands Steward.
McKenzie River TrustField work, office help, and more.
The Nature Conservancy in OregonHelp with restoration and ongoing stewardship, assist with research and monitoring, or work with the public as a Volunteer Naturalist in one of our preserves. Opportunities to provide administrative assistance for key conservation projects also available.
Northwest Center for Alternatives to PesticidesOpportunities available in multiple locations including mailing, tabling, farmer's market outreach, data management, and research assistance.
Northwest Earth InstituteOrganize a course, mentor new groups, or help with curriculum development, office projects, and tabling.
Oregon Natural Desert AssociationVolunteer in the field or in town - opportunities include general office duties, media/web work, fundraising, outreach/events, research, public speaking/lobbying, restoration/field work, scientific monitoring, and wilderness inventory.
Oregon Physicians for Social ResponsibilityJoin a work group, help with an Oregon PSR project or event, become a PSR social media ambassador, or join the Nuclear-Free Eugene Coalition.
